READ ME FILE: MAC version
For MAC version, please read the information below to get
started.
- Mac V10 Installation Instructions
1. Copy the Exit Strategies for Mac folder to your
desktop or wherever you would like to keep it.
2. Double-click on its new location on your hard drive and you should
get your standard “finder” type window that has the “cog” button at the
top. This is officially called the “Action Pull Down Menu”. Single-click
on the "files" folder
3. Click on “Get Info”
4. Click on “Ownerships and Permissions”
5. Change the drop down from “Read Only” to “Read/Write”
6. Under “Detail” you can click on “Apply to Enclosed Items” and that
should make everything in that folder “Read/Write”
7. Open the Exit Strategies for Mac folder and double click on the
“Exit_Strategies _for_Mac.doc” alias
8. Click to “Enable Macros” see below
9. Start entering your data!
- Enabling Macros
When opening the Word document, if you get
a prompt asking if you want to Enable Macros, click "Enable ". If the
document opens when you double-click on a Table of Contents item and
nothing happens, you’ll have to do the following: Click on Tools, then
click on Macro, then click on Security. If your security is set to High
or Very High, you’ll have to change it to Medium by clicking on the
radio button to left of Medium. Then click OK, close the document and
reopen it. At the prompt asking if you want to Enable Macros, click
"Enable ". NOTE: See this FAQ if you're having trouble enabling macros in Word.
- Playing Audio Instructions
To play an audio instruction
simply double-click on the link to the instruction, then Mac will
automatically open whatever program is the default for playing audio
files.
- Entering Data into the Word Document
In order to enter
data into the Word document you must click on the field label with your
mouse and then the field next to the label will become highlighted and
you can start typing your information. You can also use your Tab key to
move from one field to the next. If you want to go to the previous
field, hold down the Shift key and then press the Tab key. You can also
use the Enter key when you are done typing information into a field to
move on to the next field. You can also use the Page Up and Page Down
keys on your keyboard to move to another record.
